Photography of Events
The Shire of Esperance hosts and partners with many events and workshops throughout the year. We love to capture these memories and moments for future references, as well as for sponsorship purposes and to use in Shire documents and social media.
We understand there are members of our community who may not want their photo taken on the day, or circumstances may change and they no longer want their image used.
All effort will go into respecting the people within the images, and to gather permission to take their image.
If an event is held on public land permission is not required. However, we believe it is good practice to notify people of any photography / videography being taken on the day.
Please see below how we, the Shire of Esperance, manage photography at events.
PHOTOGRAPHY / VIDEOGRAPHY IN A PUBLIC PLACE
If an event is held on public land, permission to take photos is not required. However, we believe it is good practice to notify people of photography / videography.
- Public Event – any event open to the general public. This can be ticketed or free.
- Public Place - a place to which the general public has access and includes, but is not limited to, hallways, lobbies, highways, streets, schools, places of amusement, parks, playgrounds and areas used in connection with public passenger transportation.
- Social Media - websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.
It is the responsibility of the event organiser to have the appropriate notices in place, signs etc, and included in promotions. The Shire of Esperance understands it is not viable to get written permission all the time, but we will endeavour to get written permission where possible.
If you do not want your photo to be taken at a public event, please notify the official photographer or a Shire Staff member.
PHOTOGRAPHY / VIDEOGRAPHY AT A PRIVATE EVENT
A Talent Release Form (Group or Individual) will be located at the entrance of the event for members of the public to sign. Those who wish to not have their images taken will be given a wrist band.
- Private Event – An event or activity that is not open to the general public.
- Social Media - Websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.
We understand it is not viable to get written permission at all times, but we will endeavour to get written permission where possible.
