Buildings
The Shire of Esperance is responsible for approximately 80 building assets throughout the shire which require to be maintained on a regular basis.
Some buildings we maintain completely while others we are only responsible for the structural element, i.e. roof, walls, ceiling, floors (not coverings), doors, windows.
Some of the buildings that we maintain are:
- Shire Administration/Chambers
- Shire Depots including Admin, Stores, Workshop, Pound & Sheds
- Civic & Cultural Centre
- Library
- Museum & Museum Village which includes 15 buildings
- Indoor Sports Stadium & Noel White Pavilion
- Bay of Isles Leisure Centre
- Public/Community Halls at Grass Patch, Salmon Gums, Condingup, Dalyup, Cascade & Beaumont
- Rural Depots & Staff Housing at Grass Patch, Cascade and Condingup
- Salmon Gums Caravan Park Ablutions
- Seafront Caravan Park; shop, house, 4 x ablution/laundry blocks, campers kitchen & BBQ areas, 3 x on-site vans & 2 x chalets
- Public Toilet Blocks & BBQ’s in the town sites
- Cannery Arts Centre
- Homecare
- Senior Citizens
- Airport Buildings
- Wylie Bay Recycling Buildings
- Black Street Kindergarten
The majority of these buildings at some stage require either or all of the following:
- planned maintenance – general improvements to buildings that are included in the financial years budget.
- preventative maintenance – building maintenance inspections, water filtration inspections & filter/lamp replacements, termite inspections, internal/external painting.
- statutory maintenance – fire equipment testing, RCD testing, switchboard inspections, plumbing valve inspections, AC servicing & filter cleaning.
- day to day reactive maintenance – general breakdown tasks that occur; leaking taps, blocked drains/toilets, damaged doors/locks, broken windows, electrical issues, roof leaks.
