What Can you Bring out to the Waste Facility - Separate and Save
The Recycling Team hand sort your recycling and then bale the materials for transport to Perth or other locations in Western Australia.
If you separate and sort your load it will make your trip to the Wylie Bay Waste Facility easier. When you come into the facility the majority of recyclable items can be dropped off first, steel, Construction and Demolition (C&D) and green waste and small quantities of waste can be dropped at the Transfer Station on your way out.
Please remember there are size limits for green waste, tree stumps will be charged for. Concrete needs to be broken up into smaller pieces – large slabs will not be accepted. And steel tanks need to be cut up as not to damage machinery.
Categories of Waste include:
- General waste/rubbish and junk
- Green waste (tree branches/bush/lawn clippings)
- Scrap steel
- All types of batteries
- Tyres
- Asbestos - by appointment and according to guidelines
- General recyclables (cardboard, glass, paper, plastics - please separate)
- Compact fluorescent tubes & globes
- Other Items and gate fees click here
- Further Asbestos information: Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency
For large volumes of commercial waste or Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste and Asbestos you need to obtain Council approval and then schedule the date and time of drop off. Please see the Commercial, Construction & Demolition Waste Enquiry Form here.
Commercial Volumes of Waste or Commercial Waste Enquiries
Construction and Demolition Waste or contaminated soil (possible asbestos)
Finally, don't forget to COVER YOUR LOAD
To avoid littering and causing potential hazards on the road you are required by law to cover your loads when attending the Wylie Bay Waste Facility. Cover your load with approved covers and secure tightly. Ensure loose materials can't blow out of or fall from your truck/trailer/ute.
Uncovered or improperly secured loads may result in a $200 on the spot fine (Litter Act 1979).
Every resident who pays rates receive 4 waste vouchers per financial year that they can use to discard of excess general waste at the Wylie Bay Landfill (items that do not fit in your kerbside collection). If you have brought a property during the year, you can contact Council to get the pro-rata waste vouchers for that property.
