Please note the Bushfire Watch and Act has been downgraded to a Bushfire Advice - Monitor Conditions. Local roads have reopened with speed restrictions. Smoke will continue to impact nearby suburbs overnight.

🔥 A Bushfire Advice is in place for people in an area bounded by Windabout Way, Tranquil Drive and Fisheries Road in WINDABOUT in the SHIRE OF ESPERANCE.

🔥A Bushfire Advice is in place for people in an area bounded by Fisheries Road, Frank Freeman Drive, Walmsley Street, Ormonde Street and Voile Lane in BANDY CREEK and CASTLETOWN.

The alert level for this fire has been downgraded as the fire is contained and under control.

There is no threat to lives or homes.

There is a lot of smoke in the area that will impact people in nearby suburbs overnight.

🔥A Bushfire Watch and Act is in place for people bounded by Lyon Parade, Baleine Drive, Goldfields Road, Frank Freeman Drive, Walmsley Street, Ormonde Street and Voile Lane in BANDY CREEK and CASTLETOWN in the SHIRE OF ESPERANCE.

There is a possible threat to lives and homes.

WHAT TO DO
- Stay alert and monitor your surroundings as conditions could change.
- You may need to act quickly so ensure you are prepared if the situation gets worse.
- Read through your bushfire plan. If you do not have a plan make one by visiting My Bushfire Plan.
- Have your emergency kit ready.
- If you find it hard to move quickly, leaving now is your safest option.
- Keep your doors and windows closed to keep out smoke.
- Continue to patrol your property and be ready to put out spot fires.

If you plan to stay and defend ensure you are mentally and physically prepared, with protective clothing and an independent water supply.

UPDATE 12:55 PM, 05 Feb 2025: Please note the addition of a Bushfire Watch and Act - Be Aware of Ember Attack due to a change in wind conditions. The bushfire is moving in a north easterly direction.
- A Bushfire Watch and Act is in place for people bounded by Fisheries Road, Fleur Gate, Daw Drive, Bandy Grove, Bow Crescent and McCarthy Road in BANDY CREEK and CASTLETOWN in the SHIRE OF ESPERANCE.

There is a possible threat to lives and homes due to current wind conditions.

WHAT TO DO

  • Burning embers are likely to be blown around your home and could spark a fire.

  • If your plan is to leave, leave now.

  • Take your emergency kit with you. It should include an AM/FM radio that runs off batteries, a first aid kit, a woollen blanket, phones, protective clothing medication and irreplaceable valuables.

  • Decide where you will go and how you will get there. This could be with family or friends away from the fire.

  • Keep your doors and windows closed to keep out smoke.

  • Turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible to prevent embers entering your home.

  • Move flammable materials such as doormats, wheelie bins and outdoor furniture away from your home.

  • If you plan to stay and defend ensure you are mentally and physically prepared, with protective clothing and an independent water supply. Make final preparations now and start patrolling your property to put out spot fires.

A Bushfire Watch and Act is in place for people bounded by Daw Drive, Lyon Parade, Burton Road, Wiseman Street and Westmacott Street in BANDY CREEK and CASTLETOWN in the SHIRE OF ESPERANCE.

  • The alert level for this fire has been downgraded as fire activity has decreased.

  • There is a possible threat to lives and homes.

WHAT TO DO

  • If you have left the area, it is unsafe to return.

  • If you have remained in the area, stay alert and monitor your surroundings as conditions could change.

  • If you are actively defending your property, continue to patrol and put out spot fires.

  • Keep doors and windows closed, and evaporative air conditioners turned off with water running through the system if possible.

  • Be patient and follow the directions of emergency services.

A Bushfire Emergency Warning is in place for people bounded by Daw Drive, Lyon Parade, Burton Road, Wiseman Street and Westmacott Street in BANDY CREEK and CASTLETOWN in the SHIRE OF ESPERANCE

  • You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes.

  • Homes in Ormonde Street are under threat by fire now.

WHAT TO DO

  • If the way is clear, leave now for a safer place. This may be with family or friends away from the area.

  • Leave in an southerly direction towards Esperance.

  • Do not wait and see, leaving at the last minute could put your life in danger.

  • Take your emergency kit with you.

  • If you become stuck in your car, park away from bushes, cover yourself with a woollen blanket, get onto the floor as the windows may break from the intense heat.

  • Close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.

  • If you cannot leave, you need to get ready to shelter in your home.

  • You must shelter before the fire arrives, as the extreme heat will kill you before the flames reach you.

  • Go to a room in your home where you can shelter from the approaching fire.

  • The room should have running water, such as a kitchen or laundry, and have a clear exit so you can easily escape.

  • If you are not at home, it is too dangerous to return.

SAFEST ROUTE
People on the western side of the warning area should leave in an southerly direction towards Esperance via Goldfields Road

People on the northern side of the warning area should leave north or west towards Esperance via Fisheries Road.
