You’ve told us what you want to see in the James Street Cultural Precinct Development, now we’re searching for the perfect consultant to deliver your vision.
The James Street Cultural Precinct is designed to house important facilities such as the planned new public library and a revitalised museum, and will include the construction of new cultural facilities, public spaces and pedestrian linkages.
The Request for Tender (RfT) for the Detailed Concept Design and Business Case has been advertised, seeking a qualified and experienced consultant to bring community aspirations for priority areas in the precinct to life.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the development of a key Esperance precinct that will provide a significant boost to the town’s economy and cultural offering.
Extensive community consultation on the James Street Cultural Precinct revealed what aspects are important to our region, identifying priorities for the development to be Community Focused, Connected to Identity, with Tourism in Mind.
The project will be a major transformation for the Esperance town centre, initially comprising three main Development Packages:
- Cultural and Tourism Hub – Development of a landmark facility to accommodate a Library, Museum, Volunteer Centre, Tourist Information Centre, and other flexible spaces.
- Goods Shed Redevelopment – Partial demolition of existing facilities to support heritage preservation, precinct connectivity, flexible spaces and economic diversification.
- Esplanade Forecourt and Village Green – A high profile centerpiece and transition space, providing flexible open areas and performance spaces.
Due to the sheer scope of the project, the Shire will look to partner with private enterprise and State and Federal Government to help fund the future of our region, and deliver a world-class precinct that meets the needs of the community and region.
