On 10 March 2025, the Shire of Esperance was made aware of a shark incident at Wharton Beach, Condingup.
Our hearts go out to the family, friends and loved ones of the victim of this incident.
As per the Shire’s Shark Hazard Response Policy, the Shire has closed Wharton Beach and Little Wharton Beach. Please adhere to beach signage and directions. These beaches will remain closed until further notice.
Recovery efforts by SES and Emergency Services continue, and the WA Police’s investigations are ongoing. Thank you for your cooperation; please stay away from the area.
