We’ve finally had rain, and our Shire Maintenance Teams are hard at work grading rural roads affected by the recent downpours. Verge slashing for roadside maintenance is also ongoing during this growing season. With sunny days to enjoy between the showers, please keep an eye out for our road crew and drive safely according to the conditions.
Current Projects
- Sand Backpass Pipeline Project, CASTLETOWN - Progress continues along Castletown Quays, with excavation and sand slurry pipe installation. Additional piping for efficient future installation of communication infrastructure and footpath lighting conduit is being put in at the same time.
- Fisheries Road – This project is drawing to an end, with shoulder widening nearing completion and some bitumen sealing yet to be completed once winter rains clear. This $5.5 million project is funded by the Regional Road Safety Program, a joint State and Federal Government initiative.
- Wittenoom Road, NERIDUP - Resheet is nearing completion.
- Backmans Road, NERIDUP - Resheet has started.
- Salmon Gums West Road, SALMON GUMS – reconstruction to expand from a single lane seal to 8m seal along a 2km section continues.
- Salmon Gums School, SALMON GUMS - Footpath replacement underway.
- Salmon Gums Carpark – Sealing has been completed, now awaiting contractors to do the curbing, then it will just need the footpath and landscaping to be done.
- Bandy Creek Road Pedestrian Bridge, BANDY CREEK – Construction of earthworks and foundations for the bridge almost finished.
- Myrup Road Waste Transfer Facility, MYRUP – Work on bulk earthworks to level the site continues.
- Bus Stops, ESPERANCE – Construction starting in various locations to support public transport.
- Fisheries Road, CASTLETOWN - Tree mulching along Fisheries Rd from Goldfields Road to Norseman Road, providing clear views along the road reserve, has been completed.
Future Projects
- Bukenerup Road, MONJINGUP - Stearns Road to Patterson Road, to be upgraded to 8.0 wide bitumen.
- Goldfields Road/Fisheries Road, CASTLETOWN - Intersection upgrade.
- Cascade Road, DALYUP - Reconstruction from Coomalbidgup Road east to Boydell Road.
- Neds Corner Road, CASCADE – New construction from Griffiths Road north to Grass Patch Road.
- Farmers Road, EAST MUNGLINUP - Reconstruction from South Coast Highway, north to Jonegatup Road.
- River Road, CASCADE - New construction from Oldfield Road west for 5km.
