Shire of Esperance Roads Program & Project Update
The weather has been playing the game, providing just the right amount of rain to make grading works successful without slowing down our other road projects.
Road works are mapped on the Shire’s Road Report
With our vast road and pathway network the Shire seeks funding from State and Federal Government. As we continue to implement the Esperance 2050 Cycling Strategy, the Shire is actively seeking funding for a proposed footpath along Fisheries Road. The proposed sections include:
- Bandy Creek Road to Quarry Road
- Goldfields Road to St Germain Road
- Cull Close to Remark Drive
- Ram Court to Beach Street

Current Projects
- Sand Back Pass Pipeline: The pipeline installation is nearly complete, with all pipes installed and pump pads currently being finalised. Quotes are being sought for booster pumps.
- TransEsperance Bus Stops: On behalf of Department of Transport, installation of new public transport bus stops continues around town.
- River Road, CASCADE: A 5km section from Oldfield’s Road is complete and will be sealed next year.
- Myrup Waste Transfer Station: Bulk earthworks are nearing completion.
- Neds Corner Road, EAST MUNGLINUP: Work has started with mulching and drainage works in the first stage.
- Munglinup Beach Road, EAST MUNGLINUP: New construction is ongoing.
- Orleans Bay Road, CONDINGUP: Mulching to the sides of the road is in progress.
Completed Projects
- Forrest Street Carpark: Long Vehicle Parking. One-way entrance via Forrest Street.
- Ridgeland’s Road: Shoulder works have been successfully completed.
- Castletown Quays Footpath: The footpath extending to Bandy Creek is now complete and open.
- Cascades Road: The section opposite CBH Bins entry has been sealed.
Future Projects
- Merivale Road, MERIVALE: Reconstruction from the end of the seal to Tyrells Road.
- Fisheries Road, NERIDUP: Reconstruction between Savage Road and Coolinup Road.
- Parmango Road, BEAUMONT: Reconstruction from Kettles Road to Heywood Road.
- Tom Starcevich V.C. Road, SALMON GUMS: Reconstruction planned. Temporary repairs complete.
- Bukenerup Road, MONJINGUP: Upgrade from Stearns Road to Patterson Road to an 8.0m wide bitumen surface.
- Goldfields Road/Fisheries Road Intersection, CASTLETOWN: Improvements planned.
- Quarry Road, MYRUP: Reconstruction from Fisheries Road to Yallambee Road.
- Lease Road, CHADWICK: New construction planned.
