Beaches Open: Blue Haven, Chapmans Point and Lovers Cove

The whale is away! Thank you to Garry, Michael, Coops, Dave, Bryce, Marcus, and Liam for your expertise and knowledge in moving the whale carcass out to sea. You are absolute legends.
The beaches from Lovers Cove to Blue Haven are still CLOSED. The Shire website will provide updates on when they reopen.

Update: 9:30am - The Shire is working on a plan with assistance from departments and local professionals.
This is a first from this location and personnel safety is priority.
Please stay clear of the area to let the people work.

CLOSED BEACHES: Lovers Cove - Blue Haven. Signs are in place.
A whale carcass has washed up on the rocks/reef at First Beach. The Shire is liaising with DPIRD and DBCA regarding the removal of the carcass.
Please stay away from the site.
Reading warning signs and staying safe is your responsibility

There has been a Public report of a whale carcass sighted off Charley Island, Esperance (approx. 6km off the mainland). The swell is pushing the carcass towards West Beach.
Please be aware
Rangers are placing signage from West Beach through to Twilight.
If you sight any sharks call Water Police on 9442 8600 (save this number).
Your safety is your responsibility.
